When you think about growth in your ministry, what comes to mind? Do you immediately think of numerical growth, having lots more kids, teens, and families in your ministry? Or does your mind go straight to discipleship? While we all do want churches full of kids, students, and families, we have to focus on discipling, before we think about growing.

So, how should you be growing your ministry?

Grow spiritually.

Your top goal should always be to grow in your faith and your walk. No matter what season of life it is, busy or not,  don’t neglect your personal quiet time. How will you commit to growing your faith?

Grow your families.

What are your plans to grow the families in your ministry, spiritually? Think through what sort of training and equipping events you can put on the calendar as well as what resources you can send home. Remember, God commanded parents to be the primary disciplers of their children; your role as a ministry leader is to equip them to do so.

Grow your leadership.

It is always a perfect time to grow your leadership. Why? A successful leader is one who is growing and doesn’t settle for good enough.

Need a little help to grow in your leadership? Ask yourself the following questions. Are you ministering to families from a biblical perspective? Are you doing more than just sending home take-home papers and calling it family ministry? Do you want to see moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas discipling like God commanded and faith transformation happening in the home? The Family Ministry Academy will challenge you to rethink how you do ministry, show you God’s design for discipleship, and equip you with the tools you need to lead the families at your church.
